A close relative has directed club operations across the Southeast for years, which gave Knownly direct access to the problem and an early implementation partner from day one.
David was born in South Carolina and has family in the State. He spent part of high school in the Upstate, graduated from Clemson, and was married in Greenville. Several generations of his family studied, taught and built businesses there.
Work in technology later took him to New York and then Atlanta, where he and his wife chose to raise their family.
He joined Launchpad Tech Ventures — a Greenville-based incubator and accelerator program — to build Knownly in the Southeast, close to the clubs and the people the product is designed for.
Knownly was built with General Managers, not for them
Every scenario in the product started as a conversation with someone running a club. General Managers described the same failure over and over: the club already holds the context — the tee sheet, the tab, the last complaint, the anniversary — and none of it reaches the person standing in front of the member at the moment it matters.
So the product was designed backwards from the floor. Rules are written in the language a GM already uses. Tasks go to a role, not an app. Nothing asks a staff member to log in, learn a system, or interpret a dashboard mid-shift. If an idea did not survive a GM reading it out loud, it did not ship.
That same loop continues now. Founding clubs shape the scenarios, the routing and the wording of every staff instruction before it becomes part of the platform.
